Lometa Petroleum Corporation was created in 1986 by its founder and principal, Lynn Elliott for the purpose of developing certain geological drilling prospects in East and Southeast Texas. Lometa owns royalty, overriding royalty, non-participating royalty, as well as working interest in fifteen counties of Texas.
Lometa is an independent, family owned, oil and gas entity located near College Station, Texas. Lometa has been involved in the development of several drilling trends in Texas. Beginning with its creation in 1986, Lometa participated in the development and drilling in the Alabama Ferry, Glen Rose producing horizon in Leon County, Texas. Afterward, (1987 - 1988) Lometa was active in the Serbin area (Lee County, Texas) Taylor sand field development. As the Smakover field developed in Rains County, Texas (1989) Lometa actively leased acreage in the trend. Horizontal drilling in the Austin Chalk fractured carbonate trend opened anew and expanded drilling reservoirs extending from Carizo Springs in Southwest Texas and trending into East Texas near Jasper. Lometa was in the hunt participating in 35 horizontal wells throughout the trend. Lometa has also been a participant in 11 Woodbine sand wells.
Beginning in 1995 the East Texas Pinnacle Reef shelf edge afforded Lometa an opportunity to participate in leasing 85,000 acres in Robertson County, Texas, an area subsequently covered by 3 Dimensional seismic which is now productive of oil and gas. Lometa also participated in acquiring a lease block in the Bossier sand play in Robertson County, Texas. Currently Lometa is actively pursuing the Austin Chalk, Buda, and Georgetown Horizontal-drilling trend in East Texas, as well as Wilcox and Yegua Sands along the Gulf Coast. Additionally, Lometa is chasing East Texas Woodbine Sands, Barnett Shale, Marble Falls, Ellenberger and Hickory Sands in the southern portion of the Fort Worth Basin.
